George E. Paulus
President, COO, Secretary/Treasurer and Director
George Paulus has been extensively involved in the oil and gas business since 1977. In 1992, he and Lloyd Driscoll founded Vintage Resource Corp., a junior oil and gas company listed on both the Alberta and Toronto Stock Exchanges. As senior executive officer and chief financial officer, Mr. Paulus helped expand Vintage Resource Corp.'s net asset value to $25 million from $200,000. In 1997, the company merged with Danoil Energy Ltd.
Most recently, Mr. Paulus has held the position of Director for EMM Energy Inc., a TSXV-listed oil and gas corporation, and the privately held Margrave Corporation.
Mr. Paulus is a Professional Engineer and member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in 1966 and a Master of Science in geology in 1968 from the University of Manitoba.
Lloyd D. Driscoll
Chairman of the Board, CEO and Director
Lloyd Driscoll's extensive and varied oil and gas experience has seen him hold senior positions in several different companies and geographic areas. Mr. Driscoll, who took his first job in the industry prior to university, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1958.
From 1958 through 1974, he was employed with Texaco International, Gulf Oil Canada, Total Petroleum and Penzoil United Inc. He worked at senior engineering and management levels in all phases of the oil and gas industry throughout the United States and Western Canada. Between 1974 and 1991, Mr. Driscoll was part of the management team of Coseka Resources Ltd.
A founding shareholder, president, CEO, and board chairman of Vintage Resource Corp., a public junior oil and gas company, he helped the company attain daily oil and gas production in excess of 1,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and cash flow of $4 million per year before it merged with Danoil Energy Ltd. in 1997. Mr. Driscoll remains a Director of Danoil.
Mr. Driscoll is also a Director of EMM Energy Inc., a TSXV-listed oil and gas corporation and Director and CEO of 285231 Alberta Ltd., a private
investment corporation.
W. Howard Blacker
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Blacker began his accounting career in the oil patch in 1980. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce in 1983 and his Chartered Accountants designation in 1987. Since leaving public practice in 1990, Mr. Blacker has held senior financial positions in a number of energy service and high technology companies. Mr. Blacker has served as Controller of Zapata since July 2004 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in December 2005.
Mr. Blacker also serves as a Director of Emerald Bay Energy Inc., a TSXV-listed energy corporation, since 2004.
Don Johnson
Operations Manager
Mr. Johnson graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1970 with a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology. Since then, he has supervised field operations in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. Mr. Johnson has worked for a number of companies in all phases of production operations as well as completions and workovers. He has significant experience in safety and environmental management. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta.
Cam Bolter
Exploration Manager
Mr. Bolter graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1996 with a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology. He has been involved in oil and gas exploration since 1995. He has drilled more than 75 successful oil and gas wells in Alberta and British Columbia with recoverable reserves of more than 65 bcf. Mr. Bolter is a member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists.
Colin W. Pashley
Field Superintendent
Mr. Pashley has over 25 years of experience in conventional oil and gas production and is based in Red Deer, Alberta.
Russel Maron
Field Foreman, East Alberta
Mr. Maron has over 15 years of experience in the oil patch and is based in Zapata's Gooseberry Lake office.
Kevin Spiller
Field Foreman, West Alberta
Mr. Spiller has over 25 years of industry related experience and is based out of Innisfail, Alberta.
